What is Weatherization?
Weatherization is the process by which we assess your home (both structure and appliances) for energy loss or waste. If we find inefficiencies, we’ll then take measures to correct the issues—by installing air sealing, insulation, and energy-saving appliances— using solutions that have the highest savings-to-investment ratios.
In most cases, the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) enables low-income families to permanently reduce their energy bills by making their homes more energy- efficient. The program also provides energy-efficiency education, along with addressing health and safety concerns.
The WAP offered through Tallatoona CAP, Inc., serves the following counties: Bartow, Cobb, Floyd, Fulton, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding and Polk
Services we provide:
Energy-efficiency measures performed through WAP include:
- Whole house air sealing
- Wall and attic insulation
- Repair and cleaning of appliances known to cause create health and safety
problems (e.g., carbon monoxide emissions)
- Heating-system improvements
- Efficiency improvements in lighting
- Health and safety measures, such as the installation of smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors
- Water-saving measures
At this time, weatherization services DO NOT include the addition of porches or stairs, the replacement of doors and windows, or the installation of storm windows, storm doors or screens.
*Please note: Decisions to apply weatherization measures are made on a case-by-case basis, using a variety of factors, and the application of any single weatherization measure is not guaranteed
